Approval of The New Major of Cyberspace Security In Our Department
On February 24th, the Ministry of Education of China released "Annual Recording and Approval Results of Undergraduate Majors in General Colleges and Universities in 2021".
"Cyberspace Security" had been successfully approved as a new undergraduate academic major in Hebei University of Science and Technology which was applied by the Department of Information Science and Engineering. This major is committed to cultivating talents for strong engineering capabilities which helps to enhance the field of national cyberspace security in the "Internet +" era in China. Students will systematically learn related knowledge and acquire a good basis of theories, and key technologies in the Cyberspace Security area. Students will be qualified for their future careers and be able to fulfill the tasks in the cyberspace security industry and other national economic fields. This new major will prepare students for jobs or positions in the area of cyberspace-oriented software and hardware development, system design and analysis, cyberspace security planning and management, etc.
The major of cyberspace security had been offered in more than 100 colleges and universities in China. These universities include the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Institute of Technology and Xidian University and etc. which are in the selected lists of universities for world-class universities in China in the Projects of 985 and 211. Hebei University of Science and Technology is chosen as the second public university to offer this major in Hebei Province. The new approval of this major meets the requirements of the national security development strategy of "accelerating the training of high-level talents in cyberspace security" in China. This also satisfies the guideline of Hebei Province on prioritizing the development of strategic emerging and high-tech industries-related disciplines. Besides, offering this new major is in line with our university objective of "better supporting of the local and regional economic development in Hebei Province" and helps to conducive to further deepening the reform of teaching, enhance the quality of education and improve connotative development of the university.
