Academic Report: Crop Classification Based on Satellite Image Time Series Delivered by Russian Professor Roman Fedorov
On the morning of December 2, Professor Roman Fedorov, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences delegation, visited our school and delivered an academic report titled “Crop Classification Based on Satellite Image Time Series.” The report was chaired by Vice Dean Wang Zhenzhou.
The report systematically elaborated on the technical framework for crop classification using Sentinel-2 satellite time-series imagery. It provided a detailed explanation of the entire workflow, from image markup and sample preparation to training, verification, and classification analysis based on models such as Random Forest, Convolutional Networks (ResNet), and LSTM. The practical application effectiveness of this technology in the field of agricultural remote sensing was also demonstrated.
During the Q&A session, attending faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Fedorov regarding technical details and future development prospects, creating a lively atmosphere.
