Communication Engineering Undergraduate Major

The predecessor of Communication Engineering was confidential engineering, which was established in 1996 and was changed to the “Communication Engineering”. Communication Engineering is dedicated to cultivating advanced applied talents in scientific research, engineering design, equipment manufacturing, network operation, technical management, and other fields in the research of information and communication. In 2003, it was granted the right to confer a master’s degree in Communication and Information Systems, and in 2010, it was granted the right to confer a master’s degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering. In 2020, it was approved to confer a master’s degree in the first level discipline of Information and Communication Engineering. The Communication Engineering Department has been awarded the title of Excellent Teaching and Research Office in 2019, and Excellent Grassroots Teaching Organization in 2023.

The Communication Engineering major, considering the social demand for talents, is oriented by the development trend of the new generation of information industry, regards the integration of aerospace information and intelligent communication as its distinctive direction. Classroom teaching is the main teaching method with enterprise intellectual resources introduced into the classroom, practical teaching, and scientific and technological innovation activities to cultivate distinctive talents.

The Communication Engineering major offers major courses guided by engineering certification and national major standards. In the curriculum system, there are general education courses such as Mathematics and University Physics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Foreign Languages, Computer Culture Basics, Sports and Arts; Basic Courses Such As Circuits and Electronic Technology, Computer Systems and Applications, Signals and Systems, Electromagnetic Fields and Waves, etc; professional courses such as Communication Principles, Digital Signal Processing, Information Theory and Coding, Digital Communication, Computer Communication Networks, Modern Switching Principles, Mobile Communication, Fiber Optic Communication, etc; practical courses such as Course Design and Professional Internship Training. The department aims to cultivate students to possess patriotism, high humanistic literacy, broad vision, innovative thinking, as well as a solid foundation in natural science theory, master theoretical knowledge and skills in communication engineering. Students are equipped with good communication technology application and engineering practice abilities, and being able to engage in research, design, development, manufacturing, application, maintenance, and management of systems, equipment, and devices in the field of communication and related fields. High quality applied talents with practical ability and innovative spirit are being transported to society.
