Electronic Science and Technology Undergraduate Major

| Date:2024-01-27

Electronic Science and Technology is a national-level program in the category of engineering. It covers various high-tech fields such as circuits, microelectronics, integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, optoelectronics, and image processing. The program is characterized by a broad foundational knowledge and extensive applications in diverse areas. With the support of the national development strategy, the electronic science and technology industry in China is expected to have a promising future. The Electronic Science and Technology program at Hebei University of Science and Technology was established in 2002 with a history of 20 years and over 1000 graduates. In 2003, it was granted authorization for a Masters program in Information and Communication Engineering (academic). The original Masters program in Electronic and Communication Engineering was merged into the Masters program in Electronic Information in 2020. Since 2019, the undergraduate enrollment has expanded to two classes each year. In recent years, the program has maintained high percentages in degree attainment, employment rates, and the continuation of graduate studies. Currently, there are over 300 students enrolled in the Electronic Science and Technology program.

Throughout the undergraduate program, courses for students in the Electronic Science and Technology program can be categorized into four types: (1) Common Core Courses: English, Politics, Computer Science, Physical Education, etc.; (2) Professional Courses: Circuits, Fundamentals of Analog Electronic Technology, Fundamentals of Digital Electronic Technology, Signals And Systems, Solid-State Physics, Electromagnetic Fields And Electromagnetic Waves, Semiconductor Physics, Semiconductor Devices, Integrated Circuit Principles, Integrated Circuit Technology, Analog Integrated Circuit Design, IC Layout Design, EDA Technology, Laser Principles, Optoelectronic Technology;

There are three specialized laboratoriesin the Electronic Science and Technology program, namely Electronic Science and Technology,” “Integrated Circuit Technology,” and “EDA Technology.” The experimental equipment provides support for scientific research in semiconductor physics, semiconductor devices, integrated circuit design, and integrated circuit technology. The virtual simulation experiment of lithography and magnetron sputtering process in silicon integrated circuit manufacturing, which is part of the major construction, has been selected as a national first-class course.

Graduates of the Electronic Science and Technology program from our university receive positive evaluations from employers and graduate institutions. In recent years, the employment rate of students majoring in Electronic Science and Technology has consistently exceeded 95% (including those pursuing further studies). Regarding further studies, students of this program can apply for disciplines such as Integrated Circuits, Circuits and Systems, Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics, Electromagnetic Fields and Microwave Technology, and others, as well as disciplines such as Optics, Optical Engineering, Signal and Information Processing, Detection Technology and Automation Devices. Well-known enterprises and institutions where graduated students are employed include Huawei HiSilicon Semiconductor, AMD, China Unicom, China Telecom, North China University, etc.
